Creating Web Service credentials in Sage Intacct using the User-based Permission Type
This guide details the step-by-step process for an Admin user to create a read-only Web Services user in Sage Intacct with user-based permissions—covering confirmation of user-based security, enabling Web Services, updating Web Services authorizations with a Sender ID "Finagraph," creating a contact named "Finagraph" with a valid email, and finally creating the Web Services user, especially noting multi-entity shared environment considerations.
Creating Web Service Credentials in Sage Intacct Using the User-based Permission Type
To connect Sage Intacct to Crunchafi Data Extraction, an Admin user must create a Web Services user with specific read-only access. The setup differs depending on whether your company uses user-based or role-based permissions. This guide covers user-based permissions.
Confirm User-based Security
- 1.Navigate to Company › Setup (tab) › Company › General Information.
- 2.From the General Information tab, scroll to Global settings and confirm the Permission type setting is set to User-based.
Step 1 - Enable Web Services
- 1.Navigate to Applications › Company › Admin (tab) › Subscriptions.
- 2.Scroll to the Web Services subscription and ensure it is enabled.
Note: No additional charges will be incurred.
Step 2 - Update Web Service Authorizations
- 1.Navigate to Company › Setup (tab) › Company.
- 2.Click the Edit button (top right).
- 3.Click the Security tab.
- 4.Scroll to Web Services Authorization, and then click the Add button.
- 5.In the Web Services Sender Information dialog, enter:
- Sender ID: Finagraph (must be capitalized)
- Status: Active
- 6.Click Save, then Save again (top right).
Step 3 - Create a Contact
- 1.Navigate to Company › Setup (tab) › Contact.
- 2.Click Add (top right).
- 3.In Contact Information:
- Last Name: N/A
- First Name: N/A
- Primary Email: Enter the email of the person who will receive the Web Services login (must be a valid email address).
- Suggested contact name: Finagraph (must be capitalized)
- Print As: Finagraph (must be capitalized)
- Status: Active
- 4.Click Save.
Step 4 - Create a Web Services User
If you have a multi-entity shared environment enabled, add the Web Services User at the Top level.
- 1.Navigate to Company › Admin (tab) › Web Services Users.
- 2.Click the Add button.
- 3.Enter Finagraph (must be capitalized) for the User ID. This is the Web Services User ID used to sign in.
- 4.Enter the email of the person who will receive the Web Services login (must be a valid email address) as the Account email address. A new password will be emailed to this address, which will be needed to sign in.
- 5.Make sure the Status is set to Active.
- 6.Select Finagraph as the Contact Name.
- 7.For User type, select Business.
- 8.For Admin privileges, select Limited.
- 9.Click Save (top right).
- 10.Click Ok if prompted about additional charges. No additional charges will be incurred.
- 11.In the password dialog that comes up, enter your Admin password and click Done.
Step 5 - Grant Permissions to the Web Services User
Depending on your Sage Intacct configuration, some of the following permissions may not appear and do not need to be configured.
From the Company: To the Web Services Users
- 1.Click on the Subscriptions link on the Finagraph user.
- 2.Click Permissions next to Administration:
- Check List next to Application Subscriptions
- Check View next to Company Info
- Click Save
- 3.Click Permissions next to Company:
- Check Read Only (at the top)
- Click Save
- 4.Click Permissions next to General Ledger:
- Check Read Only (at the top)
- Check View next to User-defined books
- Click Save
- 5.Click Permissions next to Accounts Payable:
- Check Read Only (at the top)
- Check View next to Payment Requests
- Click Save
- 6.Click Permissions next to Accounts Receivable:
- Check Read Only (at the top)
- Check View next to Manage Payments
- Click Save
- 7.Click Permissions next to Global Consolidations (if applicable):
- Check View next to Manage Books
- Click Save
- 8.Click the Save button (top right).
Step 6 - Check Your Email for Credentials
Check your email for the credentials allocated to the Web Services User created in Step 4. These credentials can be used to connect your Sage Intacct company to Crunchafi Data Extraction.
